Trying to beat anorexia but my body won't let me :/?

I've dealt with food issues for a while now, I was bullied in high school because I was the fat kid, I would comfort eat, now I'm anorexic so it turned around, I see 2 counsellors at college. I'm trying to eat but my body is still losing weight, it seems like wotever I do my body just does what it wants, I hate putting on weight, I put a few pounds on before and freaked out and lost them, from January to march I had lost 3 stone and was in hospital but managed to lie myself out. What should I do???

As someone who has been where you are and still struggles to some extent, I want to start by saying how sad and sorry to hear what you are going through. If you ever need someone to listen to and talk to, I am so happy and more than willing to be there for you.



Right now, your body is just coming out of starvation mode, and your metabolism is beginning to regain and speed up as you eat more. That is a good sign, but it does mean that you need to eat more in order to gain. I hope you are working with a nutritionist and a doctor because I am in no authority to give you medical advice. I can only speak from experience. The hardest part about recovery is gaining weight, and no one wants to, but it is an integral part of recovery for your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. I know your biggest fear is probably that you will balloon up and not be able to control your weight and get to an unhealthy weight, but those are all irrational and illogical fears. I had them all, and no matter what anyone told me, I believed them to be true, but please, please, please believe me when I tell you that they are anything but true. I put on all of the weight I lost and then some, and I am still very slim.

Try to find a counselor or program that specificly helps people with eating disorders. The counselors you are seeing may help some of the problems you are dealing with, but not all of them. If you end up in a hospital again, try and stay in there log enough to get better rather than lying your way out. I know the hospital sucks, but it's better to follow doctor's orders as well as possible if you really want to get better.
