Question:
Dealing with frustrations of being School President?
2007-12-05 22:09:03 UTC
Hey people,

I got elected President of my Campus by popular vote last term. One of the conditions of my mandate, was to improve my attendance and uniform... Which i have and now boast a 96% attendance.

I understand that i have to set examples and be a good leader, but my teachers are expecting nothing short of PERFECTION and this is something i cannot do, this is something nobody can do.

Example: One time, i forgot my school diary and could not remember which period I had on... A teacher said a "Good leader would remember"

This is just the most minor example, but there are many others where i have made mistakes due to human error and have been critisized for it, while others get away.

Im not sure if I have explained my dilemna clearly? Im hoping theres somewhere out there wtih experience on this.

I would also appreciate any help on how to deal with frustrations like these?

Thankyou

Being a class president is nothing more then a popularity contest. I'm serious! If you were elected you should be feeling pretty damn good about yourself. Hell I was the least popular person in my class. So I envy you. Its a popularity contest. Just enjoy the ride and coast along. Thats all it is. No big deal at all.

How your school treats u is messed up. Well i'm the head student councilmen at my school and they arn't like that.

Once i forgot to bring my laptop for a presentation we were going to do. So one of the teachers drive me to pick it up.

My advice to you is, eather take a break from it all or quit. Were just human. we make mistakes. we shoulden't be critizised for that! looks like ur doing your job fine.

I wish u the best of luck

You doing a good job but your mind is not perfect.

Anybody with a different mind can be a leader not just a perfect mind.

hullo

as you put it, no one is perfect, but as a leader you should do better than average, try always to talk to a friend about your problems and learn to tolerate and accept criticisms, it is part of the leadership life.
