i need help on how to tell my doc i need adderall its the only thing that works?

Question

Ive been on several diff meds for add, like straterra methylin lexapro concerta and a few others haha i dont remember.
But my gf has add and she forced me to go to the doctors becuase she new i had it too. i said no then she gave me one of her adderalls 10 mg, and it helped i could think i was more talkative and in a way i wasnt depressed any more. i no that it has a high drug abuse, but thats honestly not why i want im just tired of paying 80 bucks a visit to see my doc. for like 10 min and for him to put me on some s**t medicine that doesnt work. Having add is like being a zombie im not hyper i just think alot, racing thoughts and i cant stayed focused but im a quiet person, so being put on something that calms me down and helps me focus doesnt exactly work for me since i am already calm. it just makes me more of a zombie. I need something that will wake up my mind and help me focus instead of something that will calm me down tothe point where i have no drive to even do my wrk any more.
So how do i tell him im tired of spending all this money to see you for ten min. then get put on something crappy.
I saw him yesterday he put me on concerta and i told him i didnt want to be put on anything that would make me tired or turn me into a zombie. Concerta is doing just that, and he knew it would, my GF actually gives me some of her meds. because she knows it helps she gives me one a day witch is al i need to get threw skool and get my work done. becuase i only go for 3 hours. Shes the kinda grl who is about ready to go down and slap my doc and be like listen this is what he needs put him on it haha.
So heres the wrap up.
Ive tried adderall it woks for me.
so i went to the doc.
he put me on 8 diff meds that didnt wrk.
and it makes me feel bad that i go in there everytime saying this med. isnt wrking for me.
He knows ive smoked pot before but ive been clean for about a year and a half ive even offered to take a drug test.
So how do i tell him i need aderall it the thing that wrks for me.
With out him thinking that im just a speed freak looking for an easy way to get drugs?

PLease help me, i cant afford to do this n e more so i need to be put on it fast. Ino some of you are like me so Just please tell me what i should do??

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. U need to just let him know you're tired of all this & can't afford to keep testing things that don't work. That you really want to try adderal & he SHOULD be willing to prescribe it for you.

nicely it particularly is to not say that she' would not swallow a million finished pill and then open up yet another pill, and take 5mg out of it equaling 35mg. i understand i'm on 5mg yet my physician is attentive to approximately my economic difficulty so he supply me a prescription for 10mg so i will diving a pill in 0.5 another day and purely take 0.5 the powder an afternoon so my $60 some atypical funds is going farther.. :D she could have some style of measuring gadget for drugs so as that she gets precisely 5mg out of that one. i donno, it particularly is the only logical end i will think of of. the two that or she potential 30 yet keeps announcing 35.. or she's not in cost of her meds so whoever is dispensing them to her is telling her 35, yet she isn't definitely gazing the bottle... or she could be taking 2 seperate drugs an afternoon, a 5mg and a 35mg. and in line with how severe her case of besides the fact that she may well be wanting to take the Adderall for (i'm assuming that is for ADHD) the greater the guy will could take tocalm it down. i stay with a boy who's on 25mg of Adderall XR and quickly is shifting as much as 30mg. and without his pills he's a catastrophe to assert the least..

I think your best option is just waiting and listening to your doctor. Your girlfriend isn't a doctor and its probably illegal for her to be giving you her prescription meds. If you tell your doctor that the only thing working for you is Adderall and when he asked how do you know and you mention your girlfriend, she could be facing some hefty legal trouble. I know it sucks having to go through the motions of finding the right treatment and having to go back and forth to the doctor, but, it's in your and your girlfriends best interest to just go with what he recommends. Are you taking the Adderall while you're taking the Concerta? For all you know several of the priscriptions that your doctor has given you could have worked for you, but, if you're taking the Adderall at the same time you would never know because either A)you think the Adderall is the one that is solving your problem when really it's the drug your doctor prescibed you or B)taking both drugs at the same time is causing a clash and your not getting the same reaction you would get if you took your own prescribed drug alone. I'm not a doctor, but, I've gone through the whole routine of finding the right meds.Yes the first few I tried didn't do anything or even made it worse, but, you need to first be on the meds long enough to build it up in your blood stream to get the actual effect, it's not going to work right for the few couple days or sometimes ever first weeks. The drug im on now didn't work for the first few days then it actually made me worse, I was seriously like a zombie. I told my doctor and he wanted me to wait another week on it. It worked alittle bit. So he gave me a slightly higher dose. It worked fantasic. It took 3 weeks before I saw positive signs. So you're risking: Your girlfriend getting thrown in jail, your mental health, your doctor losing trust in your and thinking the only purpose for going is to get your hands on adderall, and your records screwed because your doctor writes it all out on your medical history so any future doctors will look at it and say 'oh he only wants adderall, make sure we never ever give him that.'



It sucks, but, I don't think you want to risk so much ****. You have to go through the same thing other people with ADD go through so suck it up and keep going back.



-Or- educate yourself on the differnt types of meds that are available, learn how they work, how they effect different people, what chemicals they use, what area of the brain they effect, side effects, and all that stuff, look at what your doctor has prescibed you so far, if they all seem to be of teh same type or same chemical make up, ask him why he keeps giving you the same sort of thing even when there is no obvious change. Otherwise tell him you've been studying about ADD and the drugs/therapies available and you want more info on all of your options and other possible drug treatments. Obviously you'll have to clean that up alittle and you'll need to do alot of studying, but, if he thinks your serious and you really need it you may get lucky and he'll get you what you want, or at least move you treatment option pace up alittle.

Maybe you should go to a different doctor. This new doctor won't know about your history of marijuana use and if he gives you a drug test you'll come up clean. Just describe your symptoms and tell the doc that the only thing that has worked for you in the past is adderall

Straight up tell him, you need them for help in school, and you need them for concentration. If he mentions abuse, tell him you'll take a drug test and prove to him you aren't doing drugs. I got my addys that way, and they work for me, just they turn me into a Zombie. I get better grades, so whatever.
