I used Valium from 1974 until 1986 - it's what was prescibed in The Olden Days for restless leg syndrome and yes, I became addicted. I took 5mg 5 nights a week and 7.5mg 2 nights a week as I refused to become addicted (ha, ha). Anyway, for at least two nights a week, I didn't get more than 2-3 hours sleep due to The Legs acting up but lived with it as best I could. When I returned to USA, the family physician I chose to go to told me there were too many forms to be filled out due to government restrictions on Valium as it, eventually, causes nerve damage. I took Quazepam for the next 14 years and maxed out on the dosage - in 2000 developed severe insomnia and spent two years being treated for a sleep disorder (I averaged 20 hours sleep a week for a year while being weaned off the Quazepam). Yikes! In 2001, was prescribed 15mg. Temazepam per night and, in 2003, was put on Ambien-CR plus 30mg Temazepam. Am still at this dosage and managing 5-6 hours sleep a night. Unfortunately, no matter what we're told about medications, it seems most have addictive properties but none (legal) are as addictive as the benzodiazepine family (or the codeine derivatives).

I used Valium for about 3 months, 10mg. No I didn't get addicted to it. I wasn't strong enough for me. I know just started Kolonipin about a week ago. I take .5mg twice a day and that so far is working fine.

Take care
