Question:
I always worry I'm going to get fired from my job. I have no idea why but I've always had this worry about it

I have no reason to get fired. I have been working with the same company for 2 years now and have a good work ethic and good attendance, I always am paranoid that I am going to get fired. I don't know why I do this but I always worry about it. I think "ok, how will I pay my mortgage and all my bills etc". I'm 24 years old and have been a worrier pretty much my whole life but the worry of losing my job is getting really bad. What can I do? Thank you in advance for any help! I greatly appreciate it.

Calm down!!! On your way to work ask God for help during your work day. Ask Him to help keep you calm and focused on your job. Trust in Him and it will be ok. Also on your way home from work thank Him for a wonderful day, and the very fact that you have a job. Do this every day, and you will see that your anxiety and worries are silly. Good Luck.

You are a worrier who is starting to be "obsessive" on a specific topic. It's good that you recognize it and have the courage to ask for help. Chances are you "care allot" about what others think of you, and your self conscious as well. These are things you learned very early in life, now you have to re-program your brain to be more realistic and think like an adult. It would be easy to say don't worry, but it's easy to say, but not so easy to do. There are a lot of good books and web sites dedicated to stress and worry. Read a little about it, and see if that helps. With strategy & practice you can put worry aside and start living in the moment instead of worrying about what may or may not happen.

If you're not doing anything wrong, the company is in no danger of closing or moving, and your co-workers aren't causing you problems or concern, then you can rest assured that if you ever do lose your job, it won't be in the near future. But since no one knows what may happen in the future, perhaps the only thing that will settle your mind about paying the bills is to make sure your have an emergency fund and that you are debt-free. If you can save 4 weeks' pay every year, you'll be well on your way to protecting yourself if the unthinkable should ever happen.

While you're doing that, it may also help to be constantly upgrading your skills by taking night school classes related to your job.

You might consider getting some help for the anxiety and for possibly depression. It could also be that you are carrying too much debt and that is worrying you. Try talking to a professional. Money is often the single greatest source of depression and anxiety so try to get yourself "set" in the event of the "worst case scenario". That might help a lot.

I think it is normal to some extent. I think worrying about losing your job aids in your positive aspects. If you didn't care or didn't worry at all, then you may not be working as hard at being a good employee. I spent 22 years worrying about losing my job. If you are fixated on it, you need a distraction such as an intense hobby.

Try using self hypnosis by downloading it from www.uncommonknowledge.com

It is helping me a lot. Practice a little meditation and yoga everyday.

Good luck.
