My friend took lsd on Wednesday and he started crying about the earth and saying he was starting a new world order. he had to be taken to the mental hospital by saturday nignt because he became dangerous. it is now monday and he is still in another world. could the acid have triggered this?

LSD can cause drug-induced schizophrenia, and I don't think it will last but there is also more ongoing research about LSD triggering real schizophrenia in persons vulnerable to both substance abuse and psychosis.

This article will show you the relationship between LSD and Schizophrenia.

The LSD probably triggered this psychoses. It is not yet schizophrenia because schizophrenia has to have clear symptoms that last months & not substance induced. Hope it won't turn into schizophrenia. If people are prone to psychoses or if they are not in the right state of mind to take the LSD experience taking LSD is high risk. It always has a risk. Whether LSD really causes long term mental illness or whether it just brings out what was already waiting is the subject of some debate. Some people can happily take all they like. In times past LSD was actually experimented with to treat some mental illness but that is not acceptable presently.

Not by itself. If a person is genetically predisposed to schizophrenia and drops acid, it can cause the disease to fully manifest itself. Pay attention - if one of your parents has schizophrenia, you have about a 25% chance of developing it yourself. Don't encourage the disease by taking LSD. Schizophrenia sucks.

Yeah it can cause drug induced psychosis, if someone is having lsd

they should be with someone who is experienced with it who can guide

the 'trip' in the right direction.

Not someone who is panicking about schizophrenia and fuelling his anxiety while this potent drug is in his system, grow up, do your research, and make an effort to be a better person.

Not schizophrenia. The medical term is Substance induced psychosis. I am not familiar with how long it will last or what the treatment is, but it is not schizophrenia.
