Have People Gone to Rehab for Computer Addiction?

I have definitely suffered from computer addiction in the past. I have gone through periods of computer addiction. Sometimes I won't go on the internet at all for 3 days, and other days I will spend 5 hours minimum on the internet. Internet addiction has even disrupted my sleeping schedule. Sometimes I have stayed online until 4 AM, and then woken up for 9:30 AM class (successfully), but obviously being exhausted the next day!

Are there cases of people going for treatment for computer addiction? I have noticed an ad for people to get help for gambling addiction, so would the cure for computer addiction be similar to that? (I'm not sure exactly how gambling addiction is cured). Or do people see psychologists and are given tips to reduce computer addiction (e.g. remove your computer from your bedroom)? Thanks!

I'm sure a therapist could help you, but other than that idk. I've been thinking about alcoholics anonymous for my eating and smoking addictions but they'd probably kick me out.

You know I suffer from the same thing. I really think that its just a mental thing. If you really think you have a problem than go get help for it. If you want to see what you can do just google addictions and see what the steps to resolve the problem are and then just apply them to your computer addiction.

Hope this helped

i know someone who went to rehab for a gaming addiction - like xbox and internet games. i also know people go for internet porn addictions, so i'm sure there are programs for general computer addictions. you can probably just go to a therapist or psychologist and talk to them. they'll be able to refer you to whoever you need to go to. good luck!
