Because he doesn't know all the facts. He 's taking the little information he has about mental health and expanding it way too much.He needs to take more time researching mental health to see that it really does help people!

He seems to hold deeply held convictions, doesn't he? It is usually a sign when people are so extreme in their convictions that they are either not aware or unaware of other "voices" or ways of thinking on the matter--because they are on their own "crusade" for whatever reason.
