Question:
Do you think people with ADD can have a good future in life?

I want to be very successful in life. By successful, I mean graduating college, obtaining my degree and having a good career. I want to work somewhere in the criminal justice field, preferably a prosecutor or a CBP officer. Recently I just found out I have ADD. I have a hard time paying attention and listening to others. When people talk to me, I completely zone out. Sometimes my brain is like a ping pong; thoughts are always racing through my brain. I sit in front of class and even though if I am looking at the board paying attention, I'm not really "paying attention", it's as if I zone out for 5 seconds, come back to reality, then I'm completely lost for the subject. There's just so many things that are wrong with me, and I am afraid that I will not be bright for the future. Sometimes, especially if uninteresting, I have a hard time reading things. I will start off with the first 3 words then just quit ahead because of the boringness. I really don't want to be like this throughout the rest of my life. I want to be successful. But this ADD thing is not making it for me. I don't know what to do. Please help

Of course they are. Don't listen to Bob, he doesn't know anything. You've gotten this far haven't you? That's a lot further than people without ADD get.

Your ADD can be managed. Are you able to see someone about it? There are lots of things you can do such as eat a certain diet or take medication for it. I think maybe you can get cognitive behavioural therapy for it too. I'm not sure though. Do some research about ADD management.

You have drive, you know where you're headed, you can do it. Don't let something like ADD hold you back and show ignorant people like Bob how much you're worth. Which is a lot!

You still have time to do anything you want to. You found out you have ADD now, you can get treatment and really go far with your life.

You made it all the way through school and into college having ADD, think how much more you can do now, that you know about the problem.

When you have to read something that isn't interesting to you, try having a cup of coffee this works very well for a friend of mine with ADHD.

Yes; people with ADD are often successful. I don't recommend any of the powerful, and addictive central nervous system stimulants. An increased incidence of abuse of cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, and other amphetamines has been reported among users of Ritalin, and other amphetamine related medications, which may well predispose them to later abuse street drugs, with all the undesirable consequences involved. The only medication for it not in the stimulant family that I know of is Strattera, which is structurally related to the antidepressants, and carries risks, and side effects of its own; see www.drugs.com. People in most Western countries often get several times more Omega 6, than Omega 3, when a far healthier ratio is 1:1 and that deficiency is thought to be a major factor in ADD/ADHD. Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or its FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. Eat more in accordance with your "nutritional type":- ( 20 question quiz http://www.naturalhealthcoach.com/tools ) or at http://www.mercola.com/ and also enter "krill oil", & "ADHD" in their searchbar. Eliminate, or minimise sugar use, replacing with xylitol, or stevia (health food stores).

ADD is just a nice way of saying that you're too damn lazy to pay attention to someone other than yourself. Pay attention, stay in school, do your homework, and I'm sure you'll be fine.
