Taking Lamictal makes me depressed, sad, angry?

I just started taking Lamictal, it's only been 8 days. But instead of feeling any better, I feel extremely angry all the time. As well as feeling hopeless. I am hoping this will pass.

Does anyone else have experience taking this medication?

You might want to call your doctor. Lamictal is supposed to help with depression, but it sounds like it is not working for you. Give him a call because it should have been working by now.

Lamictal is prescribed frequently for bipolar disorder, so is is possible that you are in a bipolar episode? On the Lamictal website, it notes that when you start taking it, it is important to note that the medication will not break up the current episode, but it should help with future ones. Also, not quite sure what the situation is with Lamictal in particular, but most anti-depressants require at least a week to have any impact. Since you are experiencing such an intense reaction, you should probably go to your prescriber and discuss this with them, because there are many other medications that you can try and if you don't have to go through these effects, then you shouldn't. You doctor will be able to take you off the medication or lower your dose until your body gets used to the medication.

Lamictal didn't help me with depression at all!



I'm bi-polar and Abilify is what helps me with depression.



I still take Lamictal though as an extra precaution for mood swings.
