Question:
Panic attacks are getting worse, please help?

It's been almost 2 months now since my first panic attack (trembling, sweating, racing heartbeat/breathing, nausea, feeling like I was going to pass out, feeling like I was going to die that night) which lasted for 10 hours. I had 24/7 panic for 3 days until it died down and I had them occasionally almost every day (10-20 minute ones). They started back up when I had a bad panic attack in class (severe sweating, hot/cold flashes, feeling like I was going to pass out, racing heartbeat, feeling dizzy). Now if I dont take my supplement, 5-HTP, I will be in panic again. I now get panic attacks in classrooms, after working out, in crowded social events (Developing agoraphobia now because of the panic attacks), when I'm too far away from the dorm, and when I realize I didn't take the 5-HTP. I can control my breathing and my thoughts mostly now, but there is no end to the panic feeling. I made an appointment, but it's in 1 1/2 weeks from now, and I can't wait that long! Also, can I get my emergency adrenaline glands removed, because if it is possible then I don't want them anymore.

If you didn't read the details, then dont bother answering. I already know all the techniques to end panic attacks, and I DO have an appointment.

You need the following:

8 hrs sleep!

No caffeine or any other stimulant!

Limit diet colas

Next You need these:

-Inositol and here is wikipedia link to get you started..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inositol

-B-100 from swanson take about 2 or 3 a day

-Magnesium citrate powder or magnesium glycinate or taurinate, go to local store and get magnesium oxide and take at least 500mg/day until your other form of magnesium gets in by UPS.

-Fish oil, if you get Triple strength from Puritan take 3 a day! If you get from Walmart and dosage is 3 capsules a day then consider taking 6 or more but be careful since they each have about 10 calories which means you need to walk.

Magnesium and the B's are very critical to the brain.........If you are someone who DO NOT eat green vegetables like brocoli or spinach, then I can safely say that you'll see results within a few weeks of magnesium and the other supplements mentioned here because the brain BRAKES, if you are under lots of stress, taking drugs, poor diet, iinsomnia, etc., BECAUSE all these things cause the brain to Produce a high amount of excitatory neuro-transmitters like GLUTAMATE and dopamine etc..

Glutamate is called the Major Excitatory neuro-transmitter in the brain, and guess what neutralizes it? MAGNESIUM, Mg2+!

LOOK UNDER MODULATORS at middle of this page you'll see Mg2+ and how it cures DEPRESSION but IT WORKS MUCH BETTER FOR ANXIETY and Panic attacks because these 2 brain problems are caused by two many Excitatory neurotransmitters in the brain............http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NMDA_receptor

I do not know what 5-HTP is ? I am guessing it is some kind of medication for anxiety. Do you know what first brought on your attacks? That may be helpful to think about why and when they started. I have had anxiety attacks before but I take something for them when I feel my self getting irritable because that is usually the first sign in me.I have learned to listen to my body and always have my meds with me.

You can wait that long by altering your schedule and avoiding anything that could set you off. Even if you need to excuse yourself from some activity. Controlling your berating and slowing it down does help a lot.Sometimes I even count my breaths or calm myself by saying if I can get to the end of the street I will be fine. These small things that you can control will help you in the long run.Do not fall victim to agoraphobia even if it just means sitting on your front porch.Or taking a walk You do not have to interact with anyone just make yourself get out of the house and go somewhere and just sit and observe.

Perhaps there is another medication that would work better for you.You could always ask.Hold on.You will be OK.

I did this article about 4 weeks ago...It may help & Good luck :) ....One category of anxiety disorders is particular famous: phobias. These intense, irrational fears can affect anyone, and can be about nearly anything. They often lead to panic attacks and reckless behavior — anything to avoid the situation the person fears. One example of a phobia is agoraphobia. Simply put, it’s the fear of leaving your home or safe area. Believe it or not, agoraphobia is the most commonly treated phobia. Other phobias might be more common in general, but the symptoms of agoraphobia are so debilitating that treatment is nearly always necessary.

Some famous people who have suffered from agoraphobia include Woody Allen (director), Paula Dean (celebrity chef), and Elfriede Jelinek (Nobel literature laureate).

Agoraphobia is often misunderstood as a fear of open or crowded places. It can sometimes coexist with these phobias, but agoraphobia is the fear of being too far away from a “safe” area. Agoraphobics often welcome visitors to their home, since they’re in better control of the situation, but simply don’t like leaving their own home.

Agoraphobic people suffer panic attacks if they feel unsafe; this can include feeling trapped or finding oneself too far away from a comfort zone.

Like all phobias, agoraphobia doesn’t discriminate. Age, religion, ethnicity and socioeconomic background don’t affect who could be afflicted with agoraphobia. The one notable exception to this rule is that women are about twice as likely to suffer from agoraphobia.

This anxiety disorder generally develops from a mild fear to a serious condition that affects daily life.

Treatments for agoraphobia include gradual exposure and desensitization to the situations that worry the sufferer, medication, therapy, and other treatments such as hypnosis. The treatments are generally a little more limited than for sufferers of other phobias, however; agoraphobic people obviously can’t venture too far away for treatment. Some therapists are beginning to do house calls to help agoraphobic patients.

There is help available for those who suffer from agoraphobia. Simply asking for it is the first step in the recovery process.
