I have OCD and ADHD, with paranoia and anxiety, as well as an inability to focus. i just started abilify a few weeks ago and i'm on 4mg. I'm exhausted beyond belief, and i don't feel much of a difference yet. how long does it take...and will the fatigue get better?

I've been on 20 mg. of Abilify for about 2 years (bipolar II). It will take about 2 weeks to start taking effect. It does make me a bit drowsy, so I take it at night now. It is a wonderful medication in my opinion, so hold on tight! Best of luck :)

While I never had an issue with tiredness with Abilify and I have been on 5 mg since mid May, it is one of the main side effects listed for the medication. In fact for me, and someone else I know, I had a lot of extra energy when I started on it and still have some extra energy from it. As far as how long it takes to kick in, generally it takes 2 to 4 weeks for meds to reach a therapeutic level in the bloodstream, so if you've been on it over 4 weeks, I would suggest talking to your doc about either raising the dose to see if that makes it kick in or about a different medication. (Just my thoughts and I am not a doctor or a therapist, only someone who has been on lots of different meds and tried various cocktails until we found one that worked and then made this recent change back in May to switch off Seroquel to Abilify.) Best of luck!

I haven't had any such problems with abilify, except that I don't notice it doing too much overtly. It takes a few weeks for medication to develop a level, however it sounds like you should be feeling the effects by now. It sounds like abilify might not be the right med for you, so I would talk to your doctor.
