I don't have personal experience of this drug, but here is a link that might be able to put your mind at ease.

Good luck.

I have been prescribed trazodone.. Don't be scared.. The only thing really bad I can think of is that it may make you sleep more than the normal amount of hours it depends on what mg you are on. If it is 50 mg i suggest you cut it in 1/4 and try a 1/4 first if that don't help then 1/2 then 3/4 if still not working try the whole thing.. I just know that when i took the whole 50 mg it made me sleep from 10pm to 3pm the next day. I hope it works for you.. thanks hope this helps

I have been on this drug for the past 8 years at 100mg. It is a wonderful sleep aid. I do not wake up feeling hung over in the morning either. Two years ago my house burned down and I was woken up by the smell of the smoke. I tell you this to let you know that trazodone does not put you into a deep hypnotic sleep. This year my regular doctor had to go to Iraq, he is in the National Guard. The doctor taking over for him prescribed Lunesta.

Lunesta was $100, not $10, like Trazodone. Additionally, Lunesta, is a hypnotic, which I was not real keen on and it was even effective. After two weeks of sleep deprivation I was back at the the Doctors' office at got a prescription for trazodone.

Trazadone is a mild antidepressant and it can make you drowsy this is why it is taken at night and is nothing to be afraid of.

Tramadol is a painkiller and is probably a better drug to be prescribed for pain management this is also nothing to be afraid of.

The final decision to take these medications is yours alone and depends on your level of pain if you can handle the pain without any pain relief than you do not need the meds but if it is getting you down then do not hesitate to take them as they are prescribed for the symptoms you described to specialist.

Tramadol is the better pain reliever and will also aid sleep.

Also have you tried ibruprofen 400mg you can get these over the counter some people find these extremely effective and they are not so strong.

I suffer from fybromyalgia so have some understanding of your symptoms and have taken tramadol and am currently taking 50mg of trazadone at night with no ill effects. Hope this is of some help.

my Sis took trazodone ( Desreyl - may be mispelled); it caused her to sort of hallicunate - i guess u could say; in the office where she worked -- persons looked to be very small persons! like drawfts-----little folks. I think my sis was already on one or two other anti-depressants WHEN her doc ADDED Desreyl --so i guess it could have been a combination of all the med's that caused her to view persons as SMALL! - but med's affect persons differently, as u know. also, that same Doc prescribed the Desryel to me and I was on Pamelor (tri-cyclic) anti-depressant and on Navene, 2 mg. -every -other -day --- and I decided NOT to take the Desryel; i did not think i needed 3 different types of med. ( I forgot which catogory that Desryel falls in but isn't it some type of anti-depressant ? - i'm going to check on this. best wishes!! have a nice day. --i've been prescribed around 30 different "nerve" med's in my life--at different times; none have helped much; on zyprexa now--3 yrs---with 20 lbs. weight gain and sleep bout 12 to 20 hrs most days!!!

recently take onlyl 10 mg. of Pamelor -along with 2.5 mg. Zyprexa daily. i think the Pamelor is causing my mania to be a little worse and is causing me to get more angry, etc,--but then My Grand-kids COULD Probably cause any LADY to become agitated--if they baby-sit them ENOUGH ; l o l! but they can be sweet part of the time and i do LOVE them - all 3! (I have been diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder - not sure if it's Bipolar One or Bipolar Two; I think it's somewhere in between those 2! ( as u proably already know---bipolar disorder is same as MANIC-DEPRESSIVE). BEST WISHES! I AM AGE :MIDDLE 50'S; A LADY IN GA --USA.

I have taken it in the past to help with fibromyalgia. It will not hurt you if you take it like the directions say and should help you to relax so that you can sleep better. It will make you drowzy, so don't take it and drive. You can ask your pharmacist about it or you can go to WebMD.com and look up the drug and it will tell you what it is used to treat and how it works. It can't help you if you won't try it. Please try it and if you don't like how it makes you feel talk to your doctor about it and he can try you with something else. Good luck.
